Mother Jones Sponsors Her Brother-In-Law's Trip to Canada

The statement above sure explains the busy schedule of Mother Jones and Casino Boy. They must have been busy to visit Tatay Ruby either in the morgue or at the funeral home, because they have been busy attending to online searches for Vancouver cheap hotels and Vancouver hotels downtown for their arriving kin. We think Hotel Vancouver would have been a good idea to go to for a change so one can feel the ambience right away.

Mother Jones Has A Baby Shower

Caregiver Lady and her caregiver friends sponsored the baby shower of Toklang recently.

Celebrating the upcoming arrival of her new baby is exciting but at the same time, it's often a situation in which both Mother Jones and Casino Boy can feel much anxiety. Knowing that she is a third-time parent makes her worry less. By now she already knows that so many different items are needed to provide proper infant care.

The idea of the baby shower came to her as she requested Caregiver Lady to host this party for her. It surely helps relieve the financial burden on these parents-to-be by supplying them with many of the new gadgets, furnishings and accessories they'll need once their baby arrives.

They had a non-traditional baby shower, as you can see Casino Boy in the background, with men around. Probably one of the biggest changes to the baby shower format is that they're no longer exclusively for women. Plenty of men make it onto today's baby shower guest list and those who are invited don't come grudgingly. While they might not play in all the baby shower games, men do enjoy the opportunity to give their regards to the expectant mother- and father-to-be.

In some parts of the world the baby shower is actually held after the baby is born. This makes sense since a baby shower is a celebration of the baby and guests enjoy actually seeing the one who is being celebrated. It's also easier to select gender-appropriate colors and gifts and should the gift need engraving, guests have all the delivery details they need.

Having the baby shower after the baby's birth does make sense, but it's a very busy time for new parents. Plus, many of the baby items the expectant parent(s) need are needed as soon as the baby arrives home. That's why scheduling the baby shower before the baby's birth is the more common option.

The baby shower itself is traditional and for the most part, every shower involves the same activities. Guest lists and invitations need to be created and mailed. The shower location needs to be decorated. Guests expect to be entertained so food, drink and games need to be coordinated. And because it's a special occasion, there might even be a photographer and/or videographer, musician and other special talent participating in the festivities.

Special thanks to Caregiver Lady for the effort that helped pull off a successful special event like Mother Jone's baby shower. It is was a well-thought out plan that includes a timeline and a budget.

Present Research - Arrived in Manila!

This is the latest we got from the Japan Airlines website. Mother Jones and Casino Boy were able to book a flight to the Philippines. Would have gotten the info as well thru text message but it's not available yet. Oh well, as long as they arrive safe and sound.

And later, it's going to be a long trip back to the province. Good thing I'm not driving today =)

They searched for  free quote to ensure their family vacation with Allianz Classic Travel Insurance. Kids under 18 are covered for FREE! Get a free quote. This song best describes Mother Jones who really works so hard. Job still not divulged, not known by the family here in the PI.
Tatay Ruby and Auntie Insurance claim she is just a cleaner in a nursing home. When confronted to ask, she herself claims THAT is Auntie Insurance's lowly job.
Caregiver Lady once said before, "No, cleaning is not her job! She is working in a hospital and has a huge salary" and when Caregiver Lady came home to the Philippines sometime in 2008 she just said "Mother Jones doesn't work in a nursing home. No, her job is different! (than Auntie Insurance)"
Her brothers and sister have seen Mother Jones wearing old Vancouver General Hospital scrub suits for housewear, so that must be it.
Whatever her job is, she earns much and earns well to support her 2 children. She has to, her hubby Casino Boy earns for his own overheads and for his dad,mom,siblings in the PI. The very sad thing, though, she is a scrooge to her brothers and sister. In fairness, she gives some to some of them, as the need arises.

Random Things About Her


#1 She's the eldest among this brood of six. The prettiest when they were young children, having inherited the Mestiza Chinese looks of their mother. (All the girls in the family are pretty, they just change their ranks in the family every season)

#2 She's also labeled as the favorite of Tatay Ruby, having had the privilege of going to nursing school in a prestigious university in the North.

#3 Born on August 15, 1969 .She's now 39 years old, though she protests that she's only 36 or younger. Given that she now resides in Vancouver that her looks are preserved, guess that'll do. She's as fair as the ice princess.

#4 During her childhood, whilst their family were still residing in a mining village, she met an accident. As Bodoy would claim, it's because of ONE PESO. She ran down the hill to catch that peso that Bodoy and her were squabbling about but she fell and broke her crown (a-la Jack and Jill). She was hospitalized and in a coma for a month. This could be the reason why her father was protective of her, to compensate for the trouble she has been through.

#5 When their parents separated (when she was 11), her aunt from her mother's side took her to Manila to live with her family. She grew up in her care and she lived with her aunt's family. She was sent to a public high school. Treated nicely and guided well by her well-meaning and educated aunt.

#6 When she just finished her third year in high school (she was perhaps influenced by her friends) she took off and ran away to Baguio supposedly in search of their mother. But no one knows where she's been. It took a month or so before she found her mother with Bodoy.

#7 Same time during this summer that their mother revealed that Mother Jones and Bodoy were not really Tatay Ruby's own children. This came as a shock to Bodoy when he first heard about it. (Bodoy and their mother just came from a trip to their real father's town where Nanay Lemon Law took him along) But when Nanay Lemon Law told the story to Mother Jones, she was not shocked at all, in contrast to Bodoy's reaction - she was overjoyed that she now had relatives who are rich! (Nanay Lemon Law said Mother Jones and Bodoy's family on their father side even have their own hotel business in town)



#8 In childhood, MOther Jones resembled the then-popular child star Janet Giron of "Yagit" It's uncanny that she looks like that in one of her declamation speeches in school.

#9 Mother Jones can't cook pretty well. Not as well as the rest of the family.

#10 She once won a gold medal in a declamation contest in their high school. Later that year she also won the town's best actress award in a short skit where she played a drug-addicted daughter.

#11 In college she studied Bachelor of Science in Nursing. Though she is quite smart, she did not pass the board exam (even still when she bribed an official with 12000 to see her name on the passing list)

#12 She used to make her bangs very, very huge when she was a teenager in the ‘90s and had tall bangs and used a lot of hairspray. High Finance Woman did the same thing and she always got in trouble with her when the Aqua Net runs out.

#13 Up to this day, she keeps her earnings in a vault or lock box inside her home. Caregiver Lady advises her to entrust her earnings in a bank than leave ALL her possessions just there in her home.

#14 When she talks to her siblings, her husband is reminded of the rebel base scene in Star Wars.

#15 She has no idea how to use computers, and is still amazed that Yahoo Messenger is better and cheaper than calling abroad. "At least you get to see the person you are speaking to." Her siblings tease her about it.

#16 Stingy to her own relatives. Only shares when caught, or if her mood permits. Tight-wad except to her "favorites" High Finance Woman is still angry about it and begrudges her, though of course, High Finance Woman has received quite a lot from her and Taba because of (High Finance Woman's) emergencies.

#17 She sometimes feel like she's an only child.

#18 She's kind of materialistic, and still struggle with wanting nice things. But hey, she can well afford it!

#19 Bad news though, the lot that she purchased in year 2001 is not in her name alone. It's in her hubby's name like Juan Dela Cruz married to Juana Dela Cruz. Talk about being demoted after all the hard work. And the piece of land is not quality either. She spent almost a million for it when in truth it's only worth 250,000 from the zonar value.  Thanks to sports betting and casino, eh?

#21 She once carried their father's hopes and dreams that she will make it. She is actually tagged "the favorite" Sadly, she did not meet their father's expectations.

#22 In adolescence, she was always on the look out for hot and handsome guys. She really admires them anywhere. But in fairness, she remains quiet in admiration and not boy-crazy.

#23 Right after college, she learned vices such as drinking and smoking. She was into night outs with friends from high school. Later, she got pregnant and horrors, had to break the news on their father's birthday, when Bodoy had to check her out of the hospital. She was 5 months on the way then.

#24 One month later, her father,  Apol 1st Stepmother and herself decided to see an abortionist. The ordeal was too horrendous for Caregiver Lady (she was 16) to witness as she told the story a year later to the rest of the family who did not know yet. This story will be featured as a separate blog entry.
