Today is the death anniversary of Bokal and Maria's son, who was then 4 years old.

The child's death was big news in their town because he was hit by a Five Star bus.

Bokal and Maria still feel guilty over his death, blaming on the circumstances that lead to his death.

That was the day Bokal and Maria had a fight and wanted to call it quits. The plan that morning was Bokal was going to look for a place to move to.

That morning, the child overheard them. He told Maria, "Don't cry Mama, I'll give you your gift later" It was going to be Maria's birthday on the 29th. Maria was surprised and replied, "But my birthday is still days away.." The child said, "No, I'll just give you my gift this afternoon"

A little while later, the child told Bokal, "Papa, take your vitamins. I'll give it to you now." The child indeed gave him his vitamins and was extra sweet that day. Not even fighting with his cousins.

That noon, the child, with his yaya, were on their way to school riding a tricycle. The yaya changed plan and stopped awhile on the side of the road to make a short trip to the TSPI. The child was left inside the tricycle. A while later, he was into some mischief and got out. Later he playfully ran toward the other side of the street and back. His yaya saw him and told him to stop. But then again he went, with so much glee. A Five Star bus was heading their way, unfortunately the bus driver - according to passenger-witnesses- was texting, did not see the child ahead and hit him. The child was thrown 20 feet away from the site. He was rushed to the hospital was declared dead on arrival. He did not make it. He gave his life that day as a birthday present, as Maria realized.
